Well, I can do some magic on the modulator. So I recommend you try to remix one of my tracks and play with my modulators.
I'm not a technical expert like Juan, but I can generally try to explain it. So that you at least can generally use it.
To make something different come out you have to press "VCO Freq" (
see right bottom of the image).
Then you choose one of the 5 options below:
The modulator exists out of 5 devisions:- VCO Frequency
- VCA
- VCF Res
- VCF Cutoff
- LFO
All 5 have a special role in the effect, you can assign a general VCO waveform in the
drop-down screen in the modulator. (
No picture available unfortunately.)
There are 5 types you can choose from there:- Sinusoid
- Square
- Saw Up
- Saw Down
- Triangle
Each one of them make the outcome a different type of sound wave.
The VCO volume controller controls the wave sound volume, and the Noise Volume controller controls the noise sound volume.
You can choose to use 1, 2 or 4 bars, the longer the bar the slower it will sound. You can change that by increasing the amount of waves. You can do that by adjusting the Cycles. When you use shorter bars, you have to lower the cycle that will decrease the amount of waves.
You can manipulate the intensity of the loop by adjusting the depth controller. And shift the cycles by adjusting the phase controller. The LFO has 2 waveform controllers, and 2 cycle controllers, so you can adapt the waveform on cycle level.
I know, it's a lot to take in. But the most important thing you need to learn about the modulator is that you will learn how to use it by using it. Playing with it, and trying the most insane ideas you can imagine.
As long as the end result doesn't give us a headache, you can safely publish the end results.
